Park Description:
Located near Lake Granby, Colorado... Monarch Lake Loop is an amazing winter getaway. Although the total round trip distance is 5.64 miles, its gentle inclines make an ideal journey for a wide variety of fitness levels. This round trip trek offers great open scenery and a fun

section thru the trees. The entire trip is spent in the valley but it does not take away from the great views in the open canopy. This is the perfect trip for families and large gatherings of friends. Please be mindful of the snow and the angles of the surrounding slopes. Some of the surrounding slopes are steep... and so there is potential for AVALANCHE. As of Spring 2009, there was a small fee for using this area... For more information, you may want to call the Sulphur Ranger District at 970-887-4100 and download the "Area Information" pdf (below).

Park Affiliation:

National Forest-Arapahoe National Recreation Area

Trail Description:

The trail starts out as a paved road that goes from the Parking Lot to the Info. Station at Monarch Lake. From there, you can pick up the Monarch Lake Loop. This trail is relatively level and wraps around the lake with a large sweep into the trees and away from Lake on the eastern side of the Loop.
